Clark Richard

Chief Executive Officer

As Co-Founder and CEO of Vineyard Global Advisors, Clark Richard leverages his 28 years of wealth management experience—and a proven track record of growing successful businesses — to bring the firm’s vision to life.

Clark and his partners launched the company based on a staunch belief there was a need for a new type of wealth management firm- one that truly subscribes to a philosophy of being singularly focused on a client’s needs at all stages of life, coupled with a mission to provide a more sustainable pathway toward the goal of living off one’s accumulated assets. He believes that risk should be redefined as “success probability”, and that all clients should consider the interplay of their balance sheet--vis-`a-vis wealth transfer goals—with their individual lifestyle goals.

Prior to forming Vineyard Global Advisors, Clark was the Managing Director of Private Client Services at First Allied Asset Management. In this role, he developed wealth management strategies that generated $400M of AUM for the firm in just four years.

Clark was a founder of Charter Bank, which was sold to Boston Private in 2007 at a valuation in excess of four times its book value. He also founded a multi-family office focusing on clients with a minimum net-worth of $10M, which was later acquired by a private equity firm. He previously served as a financial consultant for Shearson Lehman Brothers and its successor firms.

Clark is a graduate of the University of Iowa, and he received his MBA from the University of Southern California. Clark and his wife, Betsy, reside in Rancho Santa Fe, CA and have four grown children. Clark is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys surfing and golfing.
