## Strategy Overview

VGA’s Optimized Equity Alpha seeks capital appreciation by investing in top-ranked industry sectors and a targeted portfolio of either growth or value stocks, depending on market preference for either style.

These two approaches are combined into one strategy to provide diversification benefits via an SMA structure.

### Strategy Summary

The strategy seeks to provide strong equity market participation during neutral to bullish market backdrops by investing in top-ranked industry sectors and a targeted portfolio of either growth or value stocks, depending on market preference.

The strategy deploys a risk-managed approach whereby equity exposure is reduced when our macro models determine that the investment backdrop has deteriorated.

### Strategy Objective

**The strategy seeks two primary objectives:**

1. Long-term capital appreciation.
2. Capital preservation during bearish market backdrops.
